Why choose oak for staircase renovation?
An oak staircase renovation is a natural product and immediately gives a warm feeling in your home. The cost is no higher than, for example, an average renovation with laminate flooring. So for about the same price, you get a wooden staircase instead of a plastic one. Moreover, laminate overlay treads are not available with built-in anti-slip rubber, making them slippier.
How long does an oak staircase renovation take?
A closed staircase is installed and finished in 1 day. An open staircase takes a little longer as it is essentially two staircases in one and is installed and finished within 1.5 days.
How much does an oak staircase renovation cost?
An oak staircase renovation for a closed staircase costs €150 per step; for example, for 13 steps, this is €1,950 including VAT.
An oak staircase renovation for an open staircase costs €175 per step; for example, for 13 steps, this is €2,275 including VAT.
Without further additional costs, provided no extra work has been agreed upon.
How does it work at Traprenovatie Woensel?
A no-obligation consultation can be scheduled at your home at your convenience, during the day or in the evening. I or my colleague will bring material samples and a color swatch to discuss the possibilities and any specific requirements with you. If you are interested, the staircase will be measured and the quotation form completed by us. After your signature, an appointment will be scheduled for installation and the preparation process (coloring the treads) will be set in motion. This takes a few days because the color oil needs to dry. A closed staircase is installed in one day, an open staircase in 1.5 days. After installation, we will walk through the staircase together to ensure you are satisfied, and payment will be finalized. This can be done with exact cash or online. Then it is time to start enjoying your new staircase, and we will head home with a sense of satisfaction.
What is the timeframe in which the staircase can be installed?
The average turnaround time is approximately 2 to 4 weeks after the quote is approved by the customer. The materials are color-matched in advance and require some drying time. However, you may have to wait a little longer during busy periods. This is because we are a small-scale company and do not have 10 installers driving around.
How is the oak wood protected?
We treat our stair overlays with a Rubio Monocoat Color Oil of your choice, predetermined via a color chart. Because the oil penetrates deep into the wood, the tread is sealed against dirt, guaranteeing a long lifespan. On average, a staircase is re-oiled once every 8 to 10 years, depending on usage. Rubio Monocoat is a proven product used in many branches of the woodworking industry
How do I maintain and clean my Oak overlay steps?
Clean the treads as dry as possible; should there be any stains, you can remove them with a slightly damp cloth and water. However, do not “wet” clean the stairs three times a week, as this will quickly polish the colour oil off the tread, bringing forward the need for reapplication of the colour oil. If necessary, a Rubio Monocoat Soap is also available for responsible “wet” cleaning of the stairs. A Rubio Monocoat maintenance product is also available to restore colour and shine, but with normal use, both products are not necessary.
Can I fix damage to the overlay treads?
Unlike a laminate stair covering, an oak stair covering can often be repaired. A superficial scratch can largely disappear with a bit of coloured oil, while a deep scratch is a bit trickier to hide, as it would require too much sanding of the tread. However, it can be filled with oak filler and then coloured with coloured oil. Should the damage to the stair covering be too extensive, the entire tread can also be replaced, but this is a last resort.
Do I have a warranty on my fitted staircase?
You certainly can count on that; our treads come with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. In practice, this warranty is almost never invoked because we use solid materials that have long proven themselves and last for years with normal use. Our treads are installed with the utmost care and precision. Should anything arise in the future, we are not averse to resolving it in good consultation. We strive for satisfied customers.
How is payment made?
You will only pay once the complete renovation has been fully concluded to your satisfaction. You do not need to pay a deposit with us, but you must sign the offered quotation as agreement to the tender. Payment must be made on the day the renovation is completed. This can be done both digitally and with the correct cash amount. You will receive the invoice, once paid, in your mail inbox a few days after installation.
